Making Critical Analysis VISIBLE Package
Critical thinking is an abstract task, and capturing the abstract can be a challenge! When it comes to helping students nail down the processes, arguments, and elements of being critical and analytical, visual recording and organizing can reduce the intimidation factor and support learners with accessible ways of holding their thinking and findings. In this package you will find scaffolded and inclusive supports for writers and thinkers from Grades 9 - 12, or beginning to mastery-level learners. I'm excited to share with you tools that have worked again and again to help these structures and processes stick.
Through a series of metaphors - an arc, a clock, a spiral staircase, a spiral seashell - you can explore a series of critical analytical processes that are scaffolded to support critical writing and thinking from Grades 9 - 12, including developing level-appropriate topics and thesis statements. And your students can easily track with your instruction and practice with graphics from each level to hone their skills and develop mastery.
I hope these tools, designed to make this challenging area accessible through visual supports and guides, for you and all of your learners!
